*Parent Counseling - for Calaveras County parents uninsured or underinsured for individual counseling services
*Nurturing Parenting Workshops – a five week series offered multiple times each year in locations across Calaveras County
*Mindfulness Parenting Workshops – a workshop series providing specific training in techniques to help Calaveras County parents reduce stress and increase effective parenting
*Seminars – brief, topical trainings to address the specific needs of parents as they raise children in Calaveras County

Qualified professionals lead workshops in a variety of topics from parenting toddlers, teens, or children with special needs to foster care issues, the power of involved fathers, understanding grief and loss and taking care of you as a parent.
Children’s workshops and a light meal are often provided. Most courses count as training hours for foster care and other services.

The Strengthening Families Parent Education Initiative builds five Protective Factors in families:
Nurturing & Attachment
Developing a bond of strong, warm feelings with my child
Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development
Understanding how children grow and develop and applying effective, nonviolent discipline techniques appropriate to my child’s age and level of development
Parental Resilience
Gaining an awareness of my own challenges in parenting and learning ways to handle everyday stressors and recover from an occasional crisis
Social Connections
Feeling encouraged and supported in facing the daily challenges of raising a family
Concrete Supports
Learning about community resources like child care, health care, education, counseling, housing, or food that help me ensure the health and well being of my child
